Northern Endurance: Cross-Country Skiing in the Canadian Mountains

There’s something about winter in the mountains, the cold air, the crunch of fresh snow, and the quiet you only find when you’re far from the city.

I took a trip out to British Columbia this winter to train in the mountains, to reset, and to get back to that feeling of moving through nature, step by step, breath by breath. While I was out there, I stumbled across a group of cross-country skiers, gliding through the snow on what was truly a beautiful day. The light was perfect, the air crisp, and the scene made me feel at ease, at peace. Seeing them glide through the confined trails of the mountains early in the morning reminded me of how life can be so beautiful and so simple all at the same time.

These photos are a reminder of why I love endurance sports, the relentless pursuit of movement, the simplicity of going for a rip on a perfect day, the moments and the peace that sticks with you long after you head home.
